Explore the traditional blue printing/ sun printing photographic method, Canotype, with local artist Judith Tutin.
Cyanotype is a really fun way to understand the basics of photography. Using treated watercolour paper you can make an image of a plant by placing it on the light sensitive paper, as a negative to block the light. This technique was devised in the early 19th century and made popular by Botanist Anna Atkins, who used it to document algae. Judith will use a selection of plants foraged in the gardens here at Johnstown Castle. An outdoor activity for nature lovers and photographers.
When: August 14th & August 15th. 10am – 1pm
Cost: €50 (all materials included)
