SUMMARY:Jazz at Johnstown Festival
DESCRIPTION:The biggest outdoor jazz festival in the South East\, Jazz at Johnstown\, returns to Johnstown Castle in the last weekend of June. \nThe programme includes two evening concerts\, (June 26 and June 27)\, featuring two super-groups of national and international talent. Details to be announced in early May. \nMeanwhile\, over 30 musicians will descend upon Johnstown Castle for our all day programme of live jazz on Saturday and Sunday\, across a multiple of stages including the Ballroom in the Castle\, the Courtyard\, the Cart Room and Jazz on the café terrace. \nMany of Ireland’s best jazz musicians have confirmed their appearance at the Jazz at Johnstown Festival\, including Kasia Eliasz\, Gustavo De Morais\, Terry Byrne\, Imelda Kehoe\, Dominic Mullan\, Dave Redmond\, Darragh Hennessey\, John Keogh\, Matthew O’Connell\, Richard King\, Kevin Lawlor\, Leon Buckley\, Dave Jones\, John Moriarty\, Chris Colloton\, Sharon Clancy\, Luke Dunford\, Lorcan Byrne and many more. \nCome celebrate the power of jazz in one of Ireland’s most breathtaking settings. SUMMARY:Summer of Love Jazz
DESCRIPTION:Relive the immortal sounds of the Summer of Love with this jazz inspired extravaganza of song and music as part of the annual Jazz at Johnstown Festival. \nThe summer of 1967 has assumed a legendary status in music. The times really were a-changin. \nBut it was a time of hope sound-tracked by arguably some of the greatest songs ever recorded by innovative performers like The Doors\, Jefferson Airplane\, Otis Redding\, The Beatles\, Janis Joplin\, Etta James\, Aretha Franklin etc. \nJazz at Johnstown is revisiting its mythical magic with a specially assembled quintet of vocalist Sharon Clancy\, guitarist Chris Colloton\, pianist Greg Selma\, drummer Matt Richards and bassist Dave Mooney. \nSharon is one of Ireland’s most unique and powerful jazz interpreters\, whose authenticity of emotion allows her to connect with audiences in a truly special way. Turn on and tune in for this midsummer evening concert on June 27th \nDoors open at 7.30pm\, event begins at 8pm and includes an interval.
