Re-opening of Johnstown Castle’s Parklands & Gardens

Re-opening of Johnstown Castle’s Parklands & Gardens

We are delighted that we will be re-opening the gardens and lake walks at Johnstown Castle on Wednesday 20th May from Wednesdays-Saturdays, initially for the enjoyment our Irish Heritage Trust Members who are living within 5km of Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum and Gardens.  The re-opening of parklands and gardens is in keeping with Phase 1 of the Government’s recently announced roadmap for the re-opening of our country on a carefully managed, phased basis.

During this first phase, we will be assessing how our new measures are working and prioritising everyone’s safety so that we can open to the wider public in a safe manner in the foreseeable future.

As you will no doubt be aware from the Government’s Roadmap for the phased re-opening of business, social and cultural activities, the re-opening of museums, playgrounds, retail and indoor restaurant/cafés are planned for later phases – subject to ongoing public health advice. We are working hard to ensure that we have all the necessary measures in place at Johnstown Castle and will keep you updated regarding the schedule for the re-opening of the entire property.

We are grateful for the many words of support that we received during the past few months of closure and we look forward to sharing this special place in a safe manner to all visitors in the near future.
