Jane Elgee Wilde Exhibition
March 8 @ 09:00 - March 24 @ 17:00
To celebrate International Women’s Day, The Irish Agricultural Museum at Johnstown Castle will host an exhibition based on the life of Jane Elgee Wilde.
Jane was a tireless and outspoken campaigner for women’s rights and equality as well as for many other causes during her lifetime. The name Oscar Wilde is known throughout the world, that of his mother Jane Francesca Agnes Elgee Wilde, less so. Believed to have been born in Wexford Town, Jane was described as a Poet and Essayist, a loving Mother and wife, a wit and a beauty, but she was also a campaigner for liberty and for Women’s rights. It is therefore fitting that we honour her on International Women’s Day. The exhibition will open on 8th March and is free upon entry with general admission.
