Membership

  • Your membership is with the Irish Heritage Trust CLG (IHT). Membership entitles you to visit the grounds and attractions of the following: Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum and Gardens, (Wexford); Fota House, Arboretum and Gardens (Cork); and Strokestown Park and the National Famine Museum (Roscommon).
  • Your Membership is valid for one year from the date of issuance.
  • Members must bring their membership card to gain access to the site for each visit.
  • Membership entitles any guests you bring to 20% off the price of a daily ticket. (You must be present on the day of the visit for this discount to apply).
  • Your ticket is non-transferable and must never be passed on to another individual (who is not entitled to use it). Regular routine checks will be carried out and misused cards may be confiscated.
  • Family membership is capped at €150. It includes two adults plus dependent children living at the same address Children and dependents must accompanied by the named card holder for each visit.
  • A charge of €5 will be made for lost / replacement cards.
  • Children under 8 are permitted to use bicycles/scooters. Motorised toys are not permitted.
  • Dogs are permitted in the gardens provided that they are kept on a short lead and dog waste is cleared up by owners. (see below our Dog Policy)
  • The Irish Heritage Trust reserve the right to change the membership pass benefits and prices at any time without prior notice.
  • No liability is accepted by the Irish Heritage Trust for loss or injury at any of our Properties.
  • The Irish Heritage Trust reserves the right to alter or change these terms without notice.

Castle Tour

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to allow time for check in.
  • Walking time from the visitor centre to the castle is approximately 5 minutes.
  • The tour takes approximately 75 minutes.
  • Dogs are not permitted inside the castle, unless they are a service dog.
  • Food and beverages are not permitted inside the castle.
  • The Castle is fully accessible.
  • Please note that the tour may not be suitable for children under 10.
  • Tickets booked for Castle Tours are non-refundable, but may be moved with suitable prior notice and at the discretion of the Irish Heritage Trust.

Events & Daily Entry to Gardens and Museum

  • Tickets for daily admission and all paid ticketed events are non-refundable and not for re-sale by third parties.
  • Please check and note your booked date and time carefully, as events may be scheduled far in advance. If you miss your booked time or date, we may not be able to accommodate you at an alternative time.
  • Tickets booked for daily admission can be moved with suitable prior notice. In some cases, you may be able to amend your booking via the link in your booking confirmation email.
  • Many events, including free seminars and workshops, require prior registration to attend.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • The booking service is not free; there is a €1.95 charge per transaction.
  • Changes to a Service: In exceptional circumstances, it may be necessary to change event details or itineraries. The Trust reserves the right to make reasonable alterations and will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Personal photography is permitted.
  • This does not affect your statutory rights.

Dog Policy

Dogs are very welcome. All dogs must be kept under effectual control. In addition, the Control of Dogs Regulations 1998 places additional controls on the following specific breeds of dogs:

  • American Pit Bull Terrier
  • English Bull Terrier
  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier
  • Bull Mastiff
  • Doberman Pinscher
  • German Shepherd (Alsatian)
  • Rhodesian Ridgeback
  • Rottweiler
  • Japanese Akita
  • Japanese Tosa
  • every dog of the type commonly known as a Ban Dog (or Bandog)

While in a public place, these dogs, or strains and crosses thereof, must be kept on a strong short lead (only up to 2 metres long) by a person over 16 years of age who is capable of controlling them. Each dog must also be securely muzzled.

Gift Voucher Terms & Conditions

  • You can redeem gift cards in Irish Heritage Trust cafes and shops. You can also use gift cards at our admission points to pay for entry to the places in our care or to buy a new membership.
  • You can buy new memberships with a gift card at most visitor reception areas of places in our care.
  • You can’t use gift cards to purchase another gift card.
  • If the value of the item you’d like to buy is greater than the balance on the gift card then you can pay the difference by another means – cash, credit or debit card. You can also use more than one gift card.
  • You won’t receive change in cash after a purchase with a gift card. Instead, the remaining balance will be updated after each purchase and will be shown on your receipt. The new balance can be used for future purchases.
  • There’s no cash alternative to a gift card – they can’t be exchanged for cash.
  • Irish law dictates that all Gift cards will be valid for 5 years after the date of issue.
  • Please treat a gift card as if it were cash. We’re unable to refund or replace lost, stolen or damaged cards.
