We look forward to welcoming you when you visit Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens, cared for and managed by the Irish Heritage Trust, an independent non-profit organisation.

There is so much to explore around the Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens for visitors of all ages, including our woodland playground!
Step inside Johnstown Castle on a guided tour, including its rare servants’ tunnel and three floors of this spectacular neo-Gothic property.
Discover one of the most comprehensive collections of farming and rural life in Ireland at the Irish Agricultural Museum.
Wander through the ornamental gardens designed by Daniel Robertson, with sculptured walks, lakeside paths, and a beautiful Victorian walled garden – all wheelchair accessible.
We love welcoming dogs to enjoy our gardens and lake walks. They’re also welcome in the visitor centre, café, and shop (on a lead). Please note: dogs are not permitted in the museum or inside the castle, except for assistance dogs.

There is no need to book your visit to the Gardens or Irish Agricultural Museum, where you can take self-guided tours.
It is recommended to pre-book the Castle Tours, which run daily:
May-September: 11.00am, 11.30am, 12.00pm, 1.30pm, 2.00pm, and 3.00pm
October- April: 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, and 2.00pm.
Please allow 10 minutes to walk from the Visitor Centre to Johnstown Castle, so that you arrive in time for your pre-booked castle tour.
