Culture Night 2026: The Stone Sessions

Come along to Johnstown Castle Visitor Centre on Culture Night and immerse yourself in your local heritage in creative ways with The Stone Sessions, an initiative that aims to deepen people’s relationship with the stories, spaces and artists that define Ireland’s creative landscape.

Attendees can choose to listen to stunning music and poetry in the cafe or book into a special workshop in the Irish Agricultural Museum. Performances and stories on the night will include mesmerising shows by musicians Talua, Rachel Grace and poet Ben Mac Caoilte. Workshops in the Irish Agricultural Museum will include an evening wind down storytelling workshop with Joe Brennan and a skill sharing workshop by thatcher Sara Leach exploring the heritage craft and skill of thatching.

Performances and stories on the night will include very special shows by dynamic, energetic folk and trad group Talua, mesmerising singer songwriter Rachel Grace and poet Ben Mac Caoilte whose work is rooted in the rich traditions of Irish storytelling, folklore, and sound. Don’t miss this very special gathering of celebration of our culture by such rich local talent in Wexford.

Cart Room 9pm – 9.45pm Relaxed Story Telling Workshop with Joe Brennan (Limited Tickets)

Join Wexford storyteller Joe Brennan in the beautiful surrounds of Johnstown Castle for a relaxing hour of traditional stories from Ireland and beyond. Leave your worries at the door and take flight on the wings of tales that will surprise, reassure, amuse and delight. Joe is a traditional oral storyteller who has been telling stories for the last 26 years. He has delighted audiences of all ages in Ireland and internationally.

Special Exhibition Room 9pm – 9:45pm – Thatching Demonstration Workshop with Sara Leah (Limited Tickets)

In the surrounds of the Irish Agricultural Museum, join Sara Leach, one of two female Thatchers in Ireland and participate in her drop in workshop and find out more about this beautiful ancient heritage craft. Sara offers reed based thatching services throughout Ireland and has a world of knowledge to share about this skill on Culture Night.

Doors open at 8.30pm and refreshments will be available on the night.
