The Irish Great War Society

The Irish Great War Society is a living history group dedicated to the remembrance and education of those who fought and died in the Great War. An exhibit will be featuring outside the castle on 24th and 25th August. The society wears the uniforms and carries the Equipment of the period, displaying original memorabilia such as the WW1 glider plane shown here, they demonstrate the firearms and other equipment used in battle. They also have a Medical Display Aid Station showing the equipment and medicines available at the time. Their group will engage with members of the public over this weekend to hear stories of their relatives and exchange information on those who fought in WW1.
